How do you do you get the most bang for all your fundraising efforts? We checked in with Will McMinn of Majestic Fundaising for a few tips.

1. Choose one or two great fundraisers and put your all into them. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking “more is better.” Fewer, more lucrative fundraisers will make you more money, prove much more manageable, and will be a more efficient use of your time.

2. Vary the timing and nature of your campaigns. Too many fundraisers burn out your families and their friends and neighbors. If you get a high quality product people like, then each year they will expect you to come by with the Christmas wreaths, cookie dough… Having a silent auction event and then selling a supplementary item during the other part of the year is a great combo!

3. For sales-type fundraisers (and items at a silent auction) choose products that YOU like. It is the organization and promotion of your fundraiser that will cause it to be a success - not the product. If you like it, others are likely to like it too!

4. Use your school (or group’s) best resources, your families, for a successful event. A bake sale at a local Christmas tree farm or farmer’s market can be fun and bring in added money. An event is a great way to let your families “enjoy” the benefit of their organizing efforts. For donations, encourage your families to check with business’s that they frequent often. Business’s are usually happy to support their loyal clientele.

6. The key: remember that fundraising is a promotion, so you have to promote it! The bigger deal you make of the project, event or sale, the better your fundraiser will do.
